The Idaho Mediation Association (IMA) was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1983. The IMA is a statewide membership association chartered to promote mediation as a method for dispute resolution.

Mediation offers a safe environment for parties to express their needs and concerns, explore options, and pursue a solutions that are mutually agreed upon. Mediation is a process by which parties in a dispute attempt to resolve issues with the assistance of a third-party, impartial mediator.

General Members of the IMA are individuals or organizations who are supportive of mediation and our mission. A Certified Professional Mediator (CPM) status may be obtained through the IMA by meeting certain qualifications.  For more about becoming a Certified Professional Mediator, click here.

"The courts of this country should not be the places where resolution of disputes begins. They should be the places where the disputes end after alternative methods of resolving disputes have been considered and tried."
-Sandra Day O'Connor

“Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict -- alternatives to passive or aggressive responses, alternatives to violence.”
-Dorothy Thompson
